Trieste
The conference is hosted by the University of Trieste. It will take place in the Main Lecture Room of Via Elisa Baciocchi 4, downtown Trieste – see also the map.
Via Baciocchi is some 20 minutes’ walk from the train station, and 10 minutes’ walk from Piazza Unità, the main square of the city; most hotels in the city are also within walking distance. Several buses run from the train station to near the conference venue.
Travel
Arriving by plane, one can choose to land at Trieste Airport, Venice Marco Polo Airport, or Treviso Airport. In addition, trains operated by Trenitalia travel frequently between Trieste and major Italian cities. Moreover, buses are available for local and regional transport.
Airport transit: Trieste is served by the Trieste Airport, the closest and most convenient airport to the city. Visitors can reach the city by either using bus line 51 (approx. 50 minutes ride) or train (30 minutes ride).
From Venice Marco Polo airport to Trieste: Visitors can reach Trieste from Venice Marco Polo Airport by bus to Mestre train station + train to Trieste, or directly to Trieste via Flixbus or GoOpti.
From Treviso airport to Trieste: Visitors can reach Trieste from Treviso Airport by bus to Treviso train station + train to Trieste.
For those driving by car: parking in Via Elena Baciocchi (venue of the conference) is not permitted. Nearby parking spaces are scarce and often subject to tolls. The suggestion is to park the car at the hotel or in one of the city parking lots, and walk or take a bus to the venue.
